From there, we both came up with some ideas of what we wanted the play to be about and what messages we wanted to convey. Luckily we both hit on the same theme of the London Riots and how we could show them in a new light. Alan drafted an idea up pretty quickly and since developing it, we have come up with a brilliant piece. We are currently in the early stages of rehearsals, sketching out the scenes to form this brilliantly written, one act masterpiece. There’s a lot of exceptional moments in this 50 minute play. The actors really get what we are trying to do and work really well together. Our aim is to give young people the chance to build up their performing, directing, writing, production credits to give them experience for the future and hopefully entertain and educate audiences while we do that.
I’ll try my best to keep this blog updated with news about Riot Squat being performed in the Fringe. And if this post was enough to intrigue you, then please book some tickets and come along!
